Marco Island and the 10,000 Islands Marco Island is strategically located on the Gulf of Mexico between the Everglades and Naples.

It is the largest of the 10,000 Islands.

The climate is semi tropical. The average year round temperature is 85 degrees during the day and 65 degrees at night.

Winter daytime temperatures range from the low 70's to 80's. Summer temperatures hover in the low 90's tempered by cooling breezes off the Gulf.

Local Tigertail Beach is famous for its sugar sand, crescent shape and shells

Beaches surrounding Marco are accessible by boat. Many are rookeries and wildlife sanctuaries.

Marco Island has 15,000 permanent residents and an equal number of visitors during the "season".

Peak season is late December through April.

There is a distinct shoulder season from the end of April through the beginning of June and from late September through mid December. Hotel rates are structured accordingly.

Off season is considered to be mid June through mid September. However, many visitors find the slower pace attractive and the weather, while hot, is not uncomfortable.
